The photographs are, at times, powerfully evocative and almost always brimming with fine detail about life on the passes, the boardwalks, and the creeks. In the hands of designer Frank Newfeld the visual results are exceptional. Some, like those from the Tappan Adney collections at McGill University and the McCord Museum in Montreal, are virtually unknown to the general public.
